Shipping Weight on an MCO

Shipping Weight on an MCO

What do I need to do?

Provide us with proof of the empty weight of your vehicle in a format that the DMV will accept.

Note:

  • Empty Weight is sometimes referred to as: Unladen Vehicle Weight (UVW), Dry Weight, or Shipping Weight.

  • This is not the same as Gross Weight (GVWR).

There are generally four places where you can find this information:

  • Placard or sticker mounted on the vehicle

  • MCO/MSO from the manufacturer of the vehicle chassis (i.e. Mercedes), or from the builder (i.e. Winnebago). SEE EXAMPLE

  • Spec sheet from the manufacturer or builder of the RV

If you don’t find the UVW number on your vehicle, the easiest way to find your vehicle’s UVW is to call your dealer or manufacturer for assistance.

Why is this needed?

The DMV needs to know what the vehicle weighs when it’s empty.
