Please note: We will need a valid title to register your vessel. If your title is not properly signed over to you or the LLC, we may need additional documentation.

You’ll get a Montana registration, & title, and the vessel will be owned by a Montana LLC, which in turn is owned by you.

4-6 weeks to get your registration. Your title will arrive 6-8 weeks later.
As of February 2024, orders are taking up to 6 weeks due to the DMV being short-staffed, so we are providing a free 40-day temp tag shortly after sending your documents to the DMV for processing.
If you want a temp tag right away, you can purchase it by selecting "Yes, please send me a temp tag" when placing your order.
"How can I get an out-of-state registration without being a resident?"
Simple.
Montana allows you to register from anywhere, but only if you’re a resident of Montana. Therefore, we set you up with a Montana LLC and register your vessel using your LLC as the owner instead of you. The LLC meets Montana’s residency requirement, and because the LLC is a resident of Montana, and you own the LLC, you can operate in other states with an out-of-state registration.
For us to register your vehicle, we require one of the following:
A valid title in your name
A title that has been signed over to you
If the title was issued in Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, or Pennsylvania, ensure that the seller has had the title notarized before sending it to us
A Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO) from the dealership where you purchased the vehicle, accompanied by a bill of sale
Additionally, the title must not be labeled as 'junk' or 'salvage'. Rebuilt is okay.
Your vessel will be permanently registered in Montana, meaning that you never have to renew it.
The renewal fee for your Montana LLC is just $125 per year.
LLC renewals are due by April 15th each year.
Frequently Asked Questions about Montana LLCs

Your LLC is classified as an ASSET HOLDING LLC, not a REVENUE GENERATING LLC, therefore, no taxes will have to be filed.

You will want to get a policy in your name and your state with the LLC added as an additional interest. It will not be a commercial policy.

Once your Montana LLC is set you can continue to add vehicles to that same LLC. All you need to do is select "Yes" that you have an existing Montana LLC with Dirt Legal when you place your order here. The cost will be $300 lower than the regular price.
We can handle your renewal
All you need to do is sign up for our auto-renewal program. We’ll automatically renew your LLC when it’s time so you won’t have to worry about it expiring.
Don’t forget about insurance!
You’ll have your vessel insured before you operate it, but we won’t need proof to register it. To insure your vessel, you’ll want a policy from your state, and you will simply add the LLC as an additional interest for no extra cost.
